The town of four stones
Königstein is shaped by four distinctive heights: Königstein with its fortress, Lilienstein, Pfaffenstein and Quirl. Together they define the town’s setting between the Elbe and the table mountains.
Königstein Fortress
The fortress rises above the town on Königstein and reflects almost 800 years of history. Routes and access options vary; consult the fortress directly for current opening and visitor information.
Lilienstein and Sandmannstraße
Lilienstein is a distinctive symbol of the national park region, with several approaches to its summit. A particularly characteristic view follows the poplar-lined Sandmannstraße towards the table mountain.
Pfaffenstein, Nadelöhr and Barbarine
Pfaffenstein combines viewpoints, rock formations and hidden passages. One well-known ascent passes through the Nadelöhr and its many steps. The 42-metre Barbarine is the mountain’s striking rock landmark.
Quirl and the Malerweg
The wooded Quirl completes the four stones around Königstein. The Malerweg crosses the region and can be explored in individual sections during a stay.
